ILM Course Objectives
When you have finished the course you should be able to
-
imagine yourself visiting a country, identifying land management issues,
and suggesting relevant next step to one or more of important, concerned
actor(s)
-
identify the actors, who influence the land management issue in a country
-
identify the information systems, incl. databases and information flows,
which are used for land management
-
suggest the context, participants, and agenda of a seminar on a land management
issue
-
present your motivated proposals for action at such seminar
-
account for your view of a 'good society', and possible steps in order
to pursue it
Land management includes
-
securing property rights in land and buildings
-
updating and maintenance of cadastral systems
-
taxation of real property assets, including real estate appraisal
-
land use planning, and environmental monitoring
-
public administration issues (centralization-decentralization; coordination;
privatization; ..)
-
education and research in these fields
It is assumed that you (the course participant) are familiar with these
issues in their Finnish context. The course focuses on property rights,
cadastral systems, and education. Other issues may be mentioned in passing
at the course.
The course aims at presenting evidence and proven knowledge, which supports
you (the course participant) in making relevant actors improve their cooperation,
in pursuing better solutions from a societal, end-user point of view.
