"Automatic Orientation of Aerial Images on Databases" (Project B)
Topics of the first week:
1. Orientation of images for updating topographic topographic
databases and digital orthoimages
2. Matching techniques for maps and orthoimages
Literature to be read:
Höhle, J., Automated Orientation of Aerial Images, www.plan.aau.dk/~jh/publications
Erkkilä, J. Producing Digital Orthoimages at the National Land
Survey of Finland, OEEPE publication no. 36, pp. 175-180 (book or CD)
Wiman, H., Matching Techniques for Maps and Orthoimages, OEEPE publication
no. 36, pp. 175-180 (book or CD)
Knabenschuh, M., Requirements of Mapping Organisations for Automatic
Production of Orthoimages and Updated Maps, OEEPE publication no. 36, pp.
167-173 (book or CD)
Exercises with the Learning Program "Learning Digital Photogrammetry on the Internet" (LDIPInter), themes and tasks on "Automated measurements" (correlation in 1D, 2D , with and without subpixel calculation), http://sunsite.dk/LDIPInter/hoehle
Questions about the literature and the exercises are sent by the conference
system to the participants of the course. Answers of participants will
be commented (corrected) by the teacher within three days. The topics are
presented also by Web pages for which a standardized template
is used.
A selftest is included.
Topics of the second week:
1. Automatic orientation by means of vector map data
-Description of various methods
-Results of the OEEPE test
2. Automatic orientation by means of existing orthoimages and height
data
-Description of various methods
-Results of the OEEPE test
3. New developments in the automation of updating of maps and orthoimages
Literature to be read:
The OEEPE report no. 36, pp.71-117 and description of seven different methods applied to the same test material, pp. 119-165. There will be opportunity for the participants of the course to get in contact with members of the OEEPE project group (authors of the methods) in order to discuss the their methods and results.
Exercises with the Learning Program "Learning Digital Photogrammetry
on the Internet" (LDIPInter), theme and tasks on "Automatic orientation
of aerial images by means of existing orthoimages and height models", http://sunsite.dk/LDIPInter/hoehle
The material of the OEEPE test is used for some additional exercises.
(The test material will be part of the course material, it may be used
by the participants for training or research).
Questions concerning the read literature and the OEEPE test will be forwarded to the participants at the end of the second week. Answers have to be sent to Aalborg University by the participants within two days. The teacher informs about the result of the "examination". OEEPE sends a diploma about a "successful participation".
