Development Agencies


The purpose of this note is to provide an overview of development agencies, departing from the one provided in Holstein: Towards best practice from World Bank experience .. (1996).

Multi-lateral development

Ongoing reorganization is reported by the UNDP, in summary of Urban Management Programme. It states:
  1. ..jointly executed by the World Bank and UNCHS in collaboration with UNDP.
  2. .. UNCHS as the executing agency, ..World Bank .. associate agency and UNDP .. the key funding agency.
  3. .. UNCHS as the executing agency, while UNDP provides core funding and overall monitoring.
The major financing is provided by the Governments of the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland while Germany, Finland and the United Kingdom provide parallel and in-kind support.

The ongoing Third Phase, .. the Programme’s work into the three thematic areas of poverty, environment and governance issues.  Currently 100 activities have been undertaken to date in 50 countries in areas such as urban administration and management, micro finance and access to credit, sustainable infrastructure, land tenure, .., ..
